The Skinny on Office Chairs

Whether you have been assigned the task of buying furniture for your company, or office furniture for your home, you must know that one of the most important pieces that you will buy is the office chair. You of course want to buy chairs that are aesthetically pleasing, but more importantly, chairs that are comfortable and ergonomically designed, so that the people who use them for long periods of time are comfortable and safe. With so much focus on workplace ergonomics, particularly in office environments, there have been a lot of improvements made in office chairs in recent years.

The office chairs on the market today, most of them anyway, are created with the health of the user in mind, and are designed to provide support and promote proper posture, so that the people who use them don’t experience back or leg pain. Even people who have already had back injuries can sit quite comfortably for long periods in many of the office chairs being created today, which is great for the workplace, since in the end, it will increase staff productivity. People work better and longer when they aren’t in pain, which is one reason that good office chairs are so important in the workplace.

There are many different kinds of office chairs on the market today, kneeling chairs, saddle chairs, exercise ball chairs, recliner chairs, and balans chairs, just to name a few.

Kneeling office chairs don’t provide back support, but they are designed to position the body in a more natural position, which helps properly align the spine, shoulder, and neck. Improper alignment often causes pain, headaches, or even pinched nerves, so this can be a great chair to prevent injury from occurring in the workplace, or in your own home office.

Saddle chairs are designed basically the way the name suggests, like a saddle. These chairs are particularly good for those people who already have problems with their lower backs, and can be adjusted to suit any person, regardless of height. These chairs work great in either a home or corporate office setting.

Exercise ball chairs are designed to promote proper posture, which prevents slouching, in turn preventing back, shoulder, and neck pain from occurring. These chairs also encourage you to move while sitting, because they are bouncy, which helps keep the blood flowing, and can help relieve tension while you work.

Recliner chairs are great for someone who has back problems, and can be adjusted as needed, so that one can work in a reclined position. Many of them are designed with a detachable table that can be used as a desk as well.

Balans chairs are also designed to keep your spine in proper alignment, with your legs at a right angle to your body. These chairs are good for preventing injury as well as promoting comfort.

If you are choosing chairs for many people, you may find that it is better to choose different varieties, to meet the different needs of the employees who will be using them. If you are choosing a chair for yourself, choose the one that best suits your needs and that you are comfortable with.
